Natural lip care

Ever suffer from dry lips? Super annoying! Dry, chapped lips are a common problem and are accompanied by redness, flakes, cracks, and a painful feeling. Sometimes so bad that talking is painful and laughing is completely out of the question! You don't want that, do you?
In this blog, we'll help you take good care of your lips and give you some tips and tricks.

How do dry lips develop?

Dry lips develop in cold, harsh weather and due to exposure to UV radiation. Some medications have dry lips as a side effect. Above all, don't lick your sore lips; that only makes it worse! Use a greasy ointment or a rich lip balm without fragrances or flavorings.

Your lips are a small part of your total skin surface. The skin of the lips, as it were, lacks the outermost skin layer. This means there are no sebaceous glands that naturally provide your skin with a greasy protective layer. Your lips are, therefore, always unprotected. For many, this is not a problem, but many people suffer from dry lips. In addition, the skin of the lips is incredibly thin, making them very sensitive to cold and dryness. Reason enough, then, to give your lips some extra care and attention.

What to do for dry lips?

Step 1

Do you suffer from flakes on your lips? This natural vegan DIY scrub will get rid of unwanted flakes in no time. The great thing about this scrub is that you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen cabinet.

Supplies

2 teaspoons (brown) sugar

2 teaspoons oil (argan, olive, or coconut oil).

Mix the sugar with the oil and apply with a circular motion to your lips and the edge of your lips. Don't rub too hard and let the sugar do the work. Wipe off with a warm soft cloth. For an extra scrubbing effect, you can apply the scrub with an (old) toothbrush or a Konjac sponge. You do this by making circular movements.

Storage
Did you make too much? Store the scrub, for example, in a Shampoo Bar Tin. It's best to store your scrub in the refrigerator.

Step 2

After scrubbing, it's important to take good care of your lips. It's best to scrub after showering. And of course, you shower with the fine and hydrating plastic-free products. Body Bars hydrate, nourish, and protect your body's skin.

After scrubbing, it's important to care for your lips with a soft and nourishing Lip Balm. If you have sensitive skin, it's important that it doesn't contain perfume or dye. These substances can irritate cracks and wounds on your lips, and that doesn't make it any better! A good lip balm is neutral and gives a pleasant, soft, and healing feeling. This lip balm is also great for dry spots on your body. The natural ingredients are packed with hydrating, nourishing, and caring ingredients such as Shea butter, coconut oil, vitamin E, and Aloe Vera.

Lip Tips

  • Don't scrub your lips too often and give your lips time to heal in between.
  • Do you have extremely dry lips and do you perhaps apply lip balm more than 10 times a day? Try to reduce this. This way, you prevent your lips from becoming completely dependent on a lip balm.
  • Apply lip balm before going to sleep. Then it can soak in well and your lips will recover faster.
  • Rub your lips with a slice of cucumber. Refreshing, a vitamin boost, and super hydrating. And while you're at it, a face mask for your skin is a good combination; make it a relaxing moment at the same time.
