1,248,329 plastic shampoo bottles saved in 2024: a milestone for ShampooBars.nl

In 2024, ShampooBars.nl, together with its customers, achieved something special: we saved no less than 1,248,329 plastic shampoo bottles. This impressive number is a big step in the fight against plastic pollution. While the world is increasingly swamped by single-use plastic, together we prove that sustainable choices truly make a difference.

A world full of plastic 🧴

It's a harsh reality: in 2024, 500 billion kilograms of new plastic was produced worldwide. Incredible, right? Almost half of this is single-use plastic – items we use for only a few minutes, but which pollute the earth forever. Less than 9% of this plastic is recycled. Most of it ends up in landfills, in nature, or in the oceans.

Plastic never truly degrades. It breaks down into ever smaller pieces – micro- and nanoplastics – which end up everywhere: in our oceans, our air, our soil, and even our bodies. Every year, up to 15 billion kilograms of plastic enter the oceans, of which less than one percent is visible on the surface. The rest sinks to the bottom or floats through the water. The conclusion? Cleaning up is not enough. We must drastically reduce the production of new plastic.
