What to do with the last bits of a Shampoo Bar?

While (Shampoo) Bars last a really long time, eventually you'll be left with a few small pieces. Since these are a bit less convenient, they can be harder to use. That's why we're happy to share some tips on how you can still make use of the last bits of your Bar. Read on!

Use a Bar bag

This is the easiest tip to implement! Store the last bits in our Bar bag. Tie the bag shut, wet it under the tap, and rub the bag between your hands. You'll see foam appear.

Don't have a Bar bag at home and are handy with crocheting or knitting? Then make one yourself! A good reason to plop down on the couch with a cup of tea, relax, and put your crocheting or knitting skills to good use. Make short stitches so that the pieces of Shampoo Bar cannot fall out of the bag.

You can also use a washcloth; just tie it shut with a rubber band so the pieces don't fall out. Have an (old) pair of tights at home? These are also suitable as a Bar bag!

Stick the remnants onto a new Bar

Do you already have a new version of your favorite Bar at home? Then stick the remnants onto your new Bar. Thoroughly wet both the new Bar and the remnants and press them firmly together.

Make your Shampoo Bar liquid

Put the pieces of Shampoo Bar in a bowl, pour in a small splash of boiled water, and mash the pieces with a fork until you have a smooth, fine paste. Spoon the shampoo paste into a bottle, jar, or container and pour in the rest of the boiled water. Stir everything together with a circular motion. Don't shake too hard, as it will foam excessively! Let stand for 2 hours and stir well again: remove the cap/lid and let cool. Once the shampoo has cooled, put the cap back on, otherwise, it will dry out too much.

Tadaaaaaa: your homemade shampoo is now ready for you! Well done, Eco Warrior!

Supplies for 10 grams of Shampoo Bar pieces:

• A glass bottle or jar of at least 150 ml
• Shampoo Bar pieces
• 11 ml of boiled water
• The sustainable mindset!

Usage:

Pour a small amount, about the size of a 10-cent coin, into your palm and spread it over your hands, letting it foam slightly. Distribute it through your hair like you would shampoo from a bottle and let it lather. Rinse thoroughly and you're done!

Melt your remnants into a new (mini) Bar

Collect several small pieces of different Bars and melt them bain-marie into a new (mini) Bar. Place a pan with water on the stove and let it warm up (do not boil). Place a small bowl in the pan with water. Put the remnants of your Bar into this bowl and let it heat up thoroughly. The pieces will melt and become liquid. Place a piece of baking paper in a small container/bowl and pour the liquid remnants of your Bar into it. Let it set and tadaaa: your new (mini) Bar!

Store your Bars properly so they last longer

While it's great to make optimal use of your last remnants, it's even better if your Bar lasts as long as possible. Therefore, it's very important to store your Bars properly. After each wash, give them a chance to dry, so they will last as long as possible. We offer various accessories for this.
