How is a shampoo bar made?

Most people are by now familiar with our plastic-free shampoo bars and care bars. But not everyone knows how they are made and how truly plastic-free our products are. We want to change that, of course, by shedding some light on our production process, our packaging, and of course our "verspilmietjes" (waste-not products). Plastic-free production

A good start is half the battle. That's why we keep the production of our bars as free from plastic as possible and carry it out with sustainable machines. All our ingredients are sustainably sourced and purchased. This ensures the quality of our bars and means they are made in a way that goes hand in hand with our vision for a fair end product. Authentically Dutch quality

Our bars are made entirely in our own little country. So no trucks full of bars are shipped to us, because all our products are made in the Netherlands by our production heroes. They carefully weigh and measure the individual ingredients and always mix them in the same way. Then the bars are weighed and pressed into the correct shape, after which they have to cure for another week before they can be packaged.

Every little bit helps

Of course, we don't make plastic-free shampoo and care products just to then package them in environmentally unfriendly packaging. That's why our bars are delivered in a recyclable box made of biodegradable softwood paper. Even the green chips added as filling to larger orders are completely natural. They are made of nothing but plant-based starch, air, and water. This means they are biodegradable, water-soluble, compostable, and not harmful to the environment! And whenever possible, delivery drivers will deliver your package by bike courier or in an electric delivery van.

And by nothing, we mean truly nothing. Production errors are human, and of course, we also have leftovers during the production process of our sustainable shampoo bars. That's why we've created the "verspilmenietjes" (waste-not products). This is where our bars end up if they don't make it through the production process without dents, missing corners, or deformities. Sometimes a batch of shampoo bars doesn't smell quite right; if the bars don't pass the scent inspection of our office dog Nessa, they also end up here.
